Superintendent’s Budget Recommendations March 29, 2019 The District Leadership Team met to discuss the final recommendation to close the gap between the Superintendent’s Proposed Budget (4.2%) and the Town Manager’s Target budget (3.0%). The following cuts are recommended: Districtwide Reduce supply accounts Reduction of hours for some paraprofessional positions Reduction of stipends- including department heads at LHS; building leadership teams at LMS, THES, Primary; and some reduction of club advisors LHS Un-fund the proposed athletic trainer One (1) paraprofessional Part-time greenhouse manager LMS One (1) teacher- foreign language (6th & 7th grade) One (1) teacher- transferring with larger 5th grade class currently at THES THES Part-time secretary These recommended cuts will be presented as part of the FY20 Superintendent’s Recommended Budget. The Leadership Team is recommending that the additional funding provided by the Town be used to restore one foreign language teacher position to LHS and a 0.5 librarian position to the Primary School. This will allow us to continue to offer French grades 8-12 and support literacy Pre-K – 2. The budget hearing on the FY20 School Department Budget will be on April 3 at 7pm at Town Hall.
