One member of the public, David Passios, commented that if the town has a reasonable option to go with separate company for the maintenance of street lamps, he would encourage this. Documents from Unitil regarding street light LED conversion were presented and reviewed. Documents present an approximate $30,000 annual savings with a 2.5 year payback of the investment. J.L. presented the options as he sees them: 1. Do nothing. 2. Convert to LED with Unitil maintaining lights, save on the energy costs. 3. Purchase the lights, convert ourselves, save on the maintenance and energy costs. For reference, Tanko gace an estimate of $156,000 to convert the street lights-just the head, not the pole-plus $300 per light when the head needs replacement. If we let Unitil replace, we would save on those costs, as they own the fixture/pole. Uniti's proposed changes & charges include maintenance costs. Tanko's maintenance costs were $4000 changing bulbs, and on call service but doesn't include the cost of the bulbs. Could we keep bulbs in stock and find a lower cost company to provide on-call maintenance? J.L suggested we might be missing a cost- should there be another charge to hand some of the owner of the pole, (AT&T?)? N.S expressed concern about the maintenance contract and J.L recommended putting all of the numbers together on a spreadsheet to provide a detailed comparison for Selectmen to use when making a decision. J.L also suggested the selectmen will want to understand the feasibility of the service contract. D.B stated he will create the spreadsheet and include assumptions such as number of hours lights are on and noting the estimates coming from Unitil. J.L. suggested talking to the town manager about options for funding. The committee opened the floor to guest, Bob Campbell regarding Green Grid Energy Solutions, the Onics energy filter and smart LEDs. Showed a video of the filter on a Leany Clinic project. According to the presentation, the filter can reduce power usage by 15-19%. The ===PAGE 2=== Minutes from the previous meeting were reviewea, N.s. made a motion to approve, U.D. seconded.
