Thanks to Chris Sullivan, the $40 entry fee was waived. Laura, Bill, Caesar, Paulette, and Jeanne offered to be present at the event. Bill will bring memorabilia the Historical Society has from the 250th and 275th celebrations. Laura can supply tent. There will be signup sheets for volunteers for 300th events as part of the Tricentennial Team. Chris will set up an email: lunenburg1728@gmail.com Paulette Beardmore and Jeanne Dupre have submitted applications to serve on the Committee. Tony motioned for approval of 12/9/24 minutes, seconded by Cathy with amended venue and corrected spelling of Laura’s name. The motion was approved unanimously. As a followup to the resignation from the Committee of Chairman Peter Lincoln, Vice Chair Bill Tyler said he would consider being Co-Chair, but was not interested in serving as Chair. The Committee deferred electing a Chair until further investigation could be done as to who might be willing to serve in that capacity. Bill Tyler reported a meeting he had with Fire Chief Pat Sullivan, Jim Lattanzi and Pete and Debbie Lincoln. Jim offered his tree farm as a place to have a bonfire. Chief Sullivan indicated difficulty with staffing for such an event; Jim could cover that with Fitchburg and volunteers, also he has ample water supply and parking. It seems as though this is a great possibility for our event. Guest Ana Lockwood brought up the possibility of using Whalom Lakefront as a venue using local businesses for parking and having shuttle buses. The motion to adjourn at 8:19 by Laura, seconded by Tony was unanimously approved. The next meeting is scheduled for August 25 at 7:00 at the library. ===PAGE 2=== ======================================================================================== DOCUMENT : 2025-08-25-agenda-7347.txt BOARD : lunenburg-300th-anniversary-committee DATE : 2025-08-25 KIND : agenda OUR COPY : https://lunenburgbudgetproject.org/docs/minutes/text/lunenburg-300th-anniversary-committee/2025-08-25-agenda-7347.txt TOWN PDF : https://www.lunenburgma.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_08252025-7347 ======================================================================================== ===PAGE 1=== Michelle Belleza Lois Filiau Tony Sculimbrene Cesar Nuzzolo, Liaison Laura Brzozoski Dawn Johnson, Treasurer Chris Sullivan Cathy Clark Debbie Lincoln, Clerk Bill Tyler, Vice Chairman 1. Minutes were motioned for approval by Chris, seconded by Bill, and unanimously approved. Reorganization of officers was as follows: Chair - Bill Tyler, Vice Chair - Jeanne Dupre, Treasurer - Dawn Johnson, Clerk - Debbie Lincoln Email lunenburg1728 was already taken, so Chris set up our account as lunenburgma1728@gmail.com. Chris will draft a Facebook page for the next meeting. Marshall Park will not be a likely venue for 2028; Northfield Road may be a better option. For First Knight, a laser show would be a good option. Pinnacle Laser Productions did Pepperell’s recent celebration. Bill will communicate our preferred dates for the bonfire to Jim Lattanzi at his Tree Farm: 6/16/28, 6/17/28, 6/23/28, 6/24/28. Michelle suggested involving the LBA based on the success of their recent event. Our set-in-stone dates: Birthday celebration - Weekend of 7/29 Parade - 9/10 Suggestions for events/activities: Descendants Maps of original farms (Marilyn MacMillan a great source) Dovetailing into all regular events with special 300th awards/plaques/ribbons/certi ficates, etc Scavenger Hunt for signs (DG Graphics?) Fundraising Calendar - photography contest - cover for schoolchildren then and now Online store with water bottles, hoodies, etc The question was raised if there is someone from Lunenburg who provides these kinds of products? Motion to accept minutes by Dawn, seconded by Bill, approved unanimously. Chris handed out criteria for Facebook page. He will try to get lunenburg 300 if Boy Scouts are not using it. FB page should be shareable but no comments. Guest Joeci Gilchrest had a number of suggestions as to how to fundraise and work with other groups, in particular the LBA, zeffy.com and the United Way. Promotional materials should be available for the May Town Meeting. History of Lunenburg Businesses, e.g. bookbinding is a possibility of an event. 4 events are set on stone at this point: First Knight - December 31st where should it be? Laser show - Pinnacle Laser? Parade - September 10 Discussion of logo contest. Need to firm up details so we can advertise. Open to public and school children. Kids’ artwork on display at birthday celebration. Questions: Can we use school fields? Can we disestablish as a town entity and re-establish as an ad hoc group so that we can function without the constraints of town board fundraising and open meeting laws? What is the status of our seed money? Suggestion was made that we pick one or two topics for agenda items for next meeting, as the agenda was too lengthy for one meeting. We will meet monthly from now on. Members would prefer to receive minutes right before meeting rather than earlier. FINANCES Selectman Nuzzolo addressed the financial situation. The money allocated in 2023 is gone, as it had to be spent in that Fiscal Year’ and went to Free Cash. There is a new Finance Director. He suggested a “Revolving Fund through the Town Manager. Town Manager or staff would make purchases for us through the town. Any money left over from donations would be given back to Free Cash. Another suggestion was to start a “Gift Fund.” FIREWORKS/LASER SHOW Chris Ruth has a blaster’s license and is familiar with fireworks. We would only need 10-15 minutes for New Year’s Eve. We could use Pinnacle Laser for the Birthday Party. LOGO The logo should be simple. Chris will ask Camera for parameters. The deadline will be 5/30. Maura will email the Superintendent and the Principal. BIRTHDAY CAKE The Birthday Cake doesn’t belong to any community, but makes the rounds. It is now in Lowell. We are on their calendar for 9/10/28. No payment is necessary until the day of the parade. We should contact him again at the beginning of next year. Bill Tyler also has contact info. The price has now risen from $10,000 to $12,000 and will likely be $15,000 by 2028. Pete and Debbie Lincoln will cover expenses. Pete Lincoln ran First Knight last time and has volunteered to be a resource for the time. Maura Lizek has a Lunenburg, Vermont rock for the cairn, and is working on one from Germany. Nancy Beach has Nova Scotia contacts. There is a Lunenburg, Virginia County if we want to pursue that. Lois Filiau has created a beautiful 300th flower. It was voted to be sold at the Town Meeting for a minimum donation of $5.00, and also to have available at all town events, such as the Vendor Fair and the Car Show to raise awareness of the 300th. Can we add Applepay and other forms of credit pay so folks don’t have to use cash? Caesar will check on how donations can be made through the Town. The minutes were accepted with the change of date. First Knight pyrotechnics were discussed. Is there a company willing to do fireworks at midnight for only 5 or 10 minutes? Ask Chris Ruth if he could do them. Is it worth the money? Would we do buttons as we did last time? It was decided to have a short presentation at Town Meeting (5 slides or so) and also collect feedback for volunteers and what people want to have for events. Chris will work on a QR code. Debbie will work with the COA on a Senior Calendar in the line of “Calendar Girls.” There was a new logo submission form Hailee Attori and the Committee voted to use hers. Could it be used for the button? The giant birthday cake is being refurbished by Lowell and we will take it when finished. Possible storage DPW? Topics for next meeting: Calendar of events Volunteer activities Uses of logo Advertising Fund raising Merchandise Time Capsule Contents First Knight Meeting was adjourned at 8:23.
