Update from Tim: ● PowerSchool “glitch” resulted in a busy start to year as all schedules needed to be re-done ● Building fire on Opening Day ===PAGE 2=== ● September 11, 2025 Open House included a presentation from the District Attorney “Hidden in Plain Sight” ● PD on 9/30/25 is with Mark Racine, AI ● Parent Teacher Conferences ○ October 21 and 23 - Open House for LHS - new format this year because we added a 3rd evening on March 5th ○ MCAS scores - by October 1, paper copy this year that will contain information on the new parent portal ○ October 15 - presentation on MCAS 4. School Improvement Plan - last year was developed with a two-year goal so we will continue with the plan developed last year. 5. Core Values - the Instructional Leadership Team drafted last year with Dr. Kalise Wornham We are receiving feedback from stakeholders and will continue to revise. 6. Meeting called to order at 3:00 p.m. 2. FY27 budget update Going to be a budget “narrative” w/Dr Fortuna explaining the requests Will look different for personnel requests; was told we’d have one (but had lost seven) but there will be more -Mr. Santry: Priority for this coming year is a WL teacher for Spanish; we need an additional Spanish teacher AND all the languages we currently offer to meet the need of rising student numbers (grade 7 to 8) -Mr. Santry: Priority to restore band and music teacher to full time -Dr Fortuna put as a district priority AD/AP both as full-time positions as AD has proven to be a full-time job between logistics and amount of students we have, and Ms. Burns has been less able to be available for AP needs (behaviors, etc.) - is cascading down w/behaviors -Ms. Hanscom priority for special ed: restoration of the BRIDGE program (those students are not properly matched in classes this year, which was our “fix” but is not wholly appropriate in terms of servicing those students) Expecting $900K over last year’s budget (includes insurance costs). Dr. Fortuna has explained that she wants to “guide the SC toward the requests of the building principals” ===PAGE 2=== Future restorations (FY28, FY29): PE teacher; ELA restoration (from the 2 that became 1) 3. Guidelines for Graduation requirements -Competency Determination has been developed - currently on 3rd SC reading -DESE Graduation council has seven total points of what should be part of an overall Competency Determination: Program of Studies in alignment with MassCORE, additional civics and personal finance/financial literacy courses; early college, CTE course opportunities; innovative/career pathways (Hudson example) and MyCAP; end-of-course assessments in some subjects; capstone project or portfolio; all students fill out FAFSA or MASFA (has opt-out option); seals of distinction (like Seal of Biliteracy). 4. Handbook Reminder -Please review and bring ideas for revision or additions to the group (we review and they go to SC in June) 5. Innovative pathways - done (see part 2) 6. Winter Athletics update -Good involvement -Adding Winter Cheer (+30 girls) -Large basketball turnout, track, etc. -Track cleared for practice; some loss of space at THES so juggling areas -Ice hockey first game -Tackett basketball tournament from two days to four 7.
